International scientific symposium | Reducing the burden of alcohol: focus on two scientific and public policy challenges, December 3, 2024

Santé publique France, the French public health agency in charge of the prevention of addictive behaviors, and EuroHealthNet, a European network of public organizations working in the field of health promotion and prevention, are organizing a scientific conference on December 3, 2024 on the issue of the reduction of the alcohol-related harm.

Mis à jour le 18 décembre 2024

Alcohol consumption has a significant impact on both morbidity and mortality in Europe and represents a considerable economic and social burden on society. Effective strategies recommended by experts and international health authorities to reduce the burden of alcohol consumption are now well established. However, their implementation in France and many other European countries remains complex.

During this scientific symposium, International researchers, NGOs and scientific experts will share their knowledge and experience on two key scientific challenges towards the prevention of alcohol consumption:

  • How to take into consideration the latest scientific evidence in order to develop and promote low-risk drinking guidelines and how to implement them effectively?
  • The commercial determinants of health: what impact on prevention policies and what levers of action for public health?
