The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games will take place in France from 26 July to 11 August and 28 August to 8 September 2024. Bringing together 206 nations, the 23rd Olympic Games will be an event on an enormous scale, with a large influx of people expected in the host regions: around 15,000 athletes, 20,000 journalists, 50,000 seasonal workers or volunteers and several million spectators. The majority of competitions will take place across some 25 venues in Ile-de-France (greater Paris), but the regions of Hauts-de-France, Pays de la Loire, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Nouvelle Aquitaine, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Centre-Val de Loire will also play host to the Games. The type and scale of these events call for particular precautions with regard to the health risks for all of the populations present in France. Santé publique France is fully engaged in its role to provide health monitoring and surveillance, and to protect the population’s health.
